The Raiwala traffic tip
Raiwala is where the Dehradun road joins the Rishikesh-Haridwar highway, and it's the one place this short drive slows down. On weekends, festival days and during the Kanwar Yatra in July-August, queues at the junction can add 20-40 minutes.
Catching a train or the aarti? Leave Rishikesh at least 90 minutes before you need to be there. Your driver will tell you on the day if it's quieter than usual.
